Ljusarkitektur and ÅF Lighting merge!

Ljusarkitektur, an award-winning professional lighting design firm was founded by Kai Piippo in 1991. In August 2013 Ljusarkitektur and ÅF Lighting joined forces and together we are currently one of the world’s largest lighting design offices.

ÅF Lighting is at the forefront of the professional lighting design business. With thirty years of experience, and many award-winning projects, we are able to provide an exceptionally broad range of services and competencies.

Ljusarkitektur in winning team for Hisingsbron

The winning team for Hisingsbron consist of danish architects Dissing+Weitling, german engineers Leonardt, Andrä und Partner, ELU and Ljusarkitektur. A few words from the jurys decition (in swedish): “The bridge with it’s lighting has great estetical qualities showing the potential to be a beautiful symbol for the city. The proposed lighting makes the bridge visible even in the dark part of the day, with a possibility to show a spectacular play of light. The lighting enhances the message of connection betweeen different parts of the city and strengthens the tension beween the heavy and the light construction.”

Swedish Light award 2012!

“In the footsteps of giants” has been awarded with “Swedish Light award 2012” on the 10th of september at Ljusdagen event in Stockholm. Kai Piippo was awarded a special prize for his work within the field of lighting. Thanks to the jury!

Engelbert jewellery store opens the doors!

Engelbert jewellery flagship store at Birger Jarlsgatan in Stockholm opened on the 23 august. The interior design is made by Christian Halleröd who has created a warm and welcoming interior with wooden materials. The lighting forms an integrated part of the architecture and highlights the jewels in the best possible way by having the possibility to change the display lighting depending on what is being exposed.

Ljusarkitektur and ÅF Lighting merge!

We are hereby delighted to inform you that from august 2013 Ljusarkitektur and ÅF Lighting are merging. The merge is of strategic importance and create great opportunities to spread our cutting edge lighting design. Together we will be a complete partner for lighting design and planning.

 

Altogether the Stockholm office will have 25 people working, holding a broad competence within design and technical issues. In addition to this there will be around 50 people working in the offices in Copenhagen, Malmö and Oslo.

Opening of Sölvesborg bridge!

Opening of the bridge in Sölvesborg was celebrated on saturday 25/5 with a big party. The lighting of the bridge was turned on together with the music of U2’s “Pride”. The lighting concept behind follows a yearly rhythm inspired by the migration of the birds in the area.

We are now designing for digital lighting installations, which gives rise to many new questions withregard to design. What kind of control adds quality to the lighting scheme? Is smart automation desirable? And what role does the lighting designer play in the future design process? Addressing these issues on the basis of specificreference projects the speakers will give a good insight into this exciting new field.

New park in Umeå

Ljusarkitektur is currently working on the lighting for a new park that is being built for the European capital of culture 2014 in the city of  i Umeå . The park contains several transforming elements that are going to be developed together with the inhabitants. The lighting as one of them, will be adjusted to the changes throughout the year.
