In a protected valley in Canyon Point, Utah, surrounded by spectacular rock formations and the arid desert, you’ll find the award-winning Amangiri resort. The minimalist sandstone-and-concrete buildings are placed around a giant pool. Organic colours blend with the raw beauty of the surrounding landscape, and the same kind of approach can be seen in the light design.
The light design from Ljusarkitektur enlarges and expands the experience of the landscape and the architecture. The natural light is magic –during the day the sun creates interesting shadows and at night the sky is filled with sparkling stars. All lights, electrical or burning, are adapted to not disturb the simplicity and purity that is Amangiri.
The project is one of several that Ljusarkitektur have made in collaboration with architects Rick Joy, Marwan Al-Sayed and Wendell Burnette.
