MC Collection is a newly built museum in Sollentuna, Sweden, housing one of Europe’s finest motorcycle collections. It’s a place not only for bikers but also for lovers of art and design.
Designed by Reppen Lizell Arkitekter, the idea is to invite visitors to a journey from dark to light. The exhibition starts in a dark hall, where focus is given to the individual objects in display, and then leads to a brighter hall where modern bikes are the focus of attention.
Ljusarkitektur wanted visitors to experience the sensation of driving a motorbike on a warm evening at dusk under blue Nordic skies. This was accomplished by focusing on the reflections visitors would see when looking closely at the motorcycles. On the ground floor there is indirect sky blue light. On the upper floor, eight different dynamic settings were created to provide the experience of different moments throughout the day and the year.
The exhibits are the personal collections of Christer R Christensson and Ove Johansson.
